Drake Trailers

Our top articles for 2016

Each year, we look back at the articles that proved most popular with our readers. In reverse order, here are the ones you liked the most:

Recapping 2016 involved looking back at record sales of our 4X4 Tilt Slide trailer, the growing popularity of our specialist forklift trailer as well as marvelling at how the sales and value of the Drake Collectibles range of die-cast replica models continues to increase, around the world.

In April, the transport sector paid their deepest respects following the sad passing of Alan Brown OAM, the joint founder of the Brown and Hurley Group and a pioneer of Australia’s transport and trucking industry. Alan passed away at the age of 94.

New amendments to the Heavy Vehicle National Law don’t take effect until mid-2018 but the industry is already thinking about how new Chain of Responsibility (COR) law reforms are going to be implemented.

We were very excited to announce our sponsorship of 15-year-old junior drag racer Tyler Gavin as he raced his way around the national Junior Dragster circuit. The Junior Dragsters are the first rung on the ladder for drivers wanting to progress up the ranks to professional drag racing.

There’s nothing better than a list article and that was proved when this article appeared in the Top 10 favourites of 2016. It’s true that 2015 was a big year for us, with the acquisition of O’Phee trailers and the new Drake Collectibles models coming in at positions 1 and 2.

We’re half way there and already here’s a clue about which article might come in at Number 1. Our October deliveries featured details about both our Deck Widener and the completely customisable Full Widener, which were delivered to Doolan’s Heavy Haulage and JMT Civil respectively.

During March 2016, this hydraulic deck widening low loader was our number one seller, so it was the perfect time to focus on its rear self-tracking axles, high tensile steel frame and optional radio remote-controlled over-ride.

In third place is one of our perennially popular Customer in Focus profiles. Rob Stribley Transport is a family owned and operated business based in the rural Victorian hub of Wangaratta. We’ve been supplying Rob Stribley Transport with the best heavy haulage trailers for 20 years.

No surprises for guessing that this article was a popular one 12 months ago. All of us in the transport industry eagerly await news of a recovery in the resources sector. The good news is that 2016 wasn’t as bad for the mining industry as many of the commentators predicted.

In poll position is one of our product profiles and this one was on what turned out to be one of the bestsellers of the year – as we hinted at number 5. Our full widener is a popular choice across a wide range of industries because it’s fully customisable, with a variety of tyre configuration that doesn’t compromise its robust, durable, widening frame.
