World Day for Safety and Health at Work

World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers’ Memorial Day

At Drake Group, we’re renowned for our safety and innovation, so it only seemed right that we take note of the annual event World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which is set to take place on Friday 28 April 2017.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work

First marked in 2013, World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and coincides with the International Workers’ Memorial Day, initially set up in 1996. Both events aim to both highlight and remember the psychological and physical risks undertaken by workers past and present.

Last year, 178 Australian workers lost their lives earning a living and on 28th April Drake Trailers, along with sister company O’Phee Trailers, will join thousands of companies across the country in raising awareness of the continued need for good health and safety practice in the workplace as technology develops and new risks are uncovered.

How can you get involved?

Drake Group will be encouraging its employees to do the following:

  • Mark the day by honouring those who have been killed or injured in the workplace over the years by conducting a minute’s silence
  • Set an example when it comes to good health and safety at work
  • Promoting the day in the workplace through a variety of methods, including posters and promotional videos
  • Joining in the discussion on social media by using the hashtag #worldWHSday2017

Drake Group’s commitment to health and safety

At Drake Group, we’re recognised for making light work of heavy loads, but our quality commitment to our customers doesn’t mean we compromise the health and safety of our staff – quite the opposite, in fact.  Everyone who helps in the manufacture and design of our trailers is fully health and safety trained to the relevant WHS regulations.
